Multimedia Design Assistant at Journal Multimedia (parent company of the Central Penn Business Journal)

Journal Multimedia has a full-time opportunity for a skilled entry-level professional to design and execute live multimedia events. Individual will thrive in a fast-paced, team environment and be capable of taking direction and updating work as needed. The position is based in our Harrisburg office, but travel will be required for event production in support of our divisions in South Central PA, Allentown, PA, and Somerset, NJ.

Applicant should have experience with video editing, Microsoft Office Suite, Apple Keynote, Adobe CS Master Collection including After Effects, Premiere, Illustrator and Photoshop. Working knowledge of and ability to troubleshoot sound and audio/visual equipment is a must. Knowledge of both Mac OS and Windows platforms required. Web programming/email marketing knowledge (HTML, CSS) a plus. An Associate’s degree in Motion Graphics, Interactive Media, Video/Digital Design or related field/experience required.

General Purpose: Responsible for prototyping, designing and maintaining user experiences for world-class web and mobile products that serve the K12 market.

Essential Functions:

  • Actively engage and participate in the creation, design and maintenance of Schoolwires user interfaces and interaction components for desktop, mobile, tablet and other emerging platforms.
  • Actively engage and participate in the creation of wireframes, prototypes, interaction models and mockups to support Schoolwires products.
  • Contribute user experience design insights by staying current in, and sharing knowledge about advancements in field.
  • Maintain flexibility with regard to participating on other team projects and maintain flexibility as roles evolve and develop.

Qualifications/Basic Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) from four-year college or university (or four or more years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Strong knowledge in all key areas of User Experience Design such as Interaction Design, Information Architecture and Information Design.
  • Expert knowledge of the Internet, web design, and applicable types of computer software.
  • Sound understanding of mobile user experiences design techniques.
